About "Le Manoir"

At the beginning of the 20th century, hunting, racing, and the nearness of Paris have made of Chantilly the ideal place to host, all year round, the privileged guests of the time, so delighted to escape the turmoil of the French capital, to rest in big brand new mansions.

Edouard de Rothschild, son of Alphonse de Rothschild, who was at the head of the Rothschild Bank, in turn, falls victim to the charms of Chantilly. There he could indulge in his two passions : horses and golf.

As early as 1906, he decided to settle a "pied à terre" in the vicinity of the racecourses..

The "Manoir" is the Rotschild’s holiday mansion . As Guy de Rotschild (son of Edouard ) would often say: "It’s simply a 16th century fantasy dwelling place with a very British like surrounding park".

The Masters of the Manoir stayed in the Manoir in summertime ,a few days for Easter, during the horse-racing periods, and the children’s holidays.

The Baron died in 1949; then his wife, Baronness Edouard de Rotschild, came very often to the Manoir Sans-Souci, until her death in 1975. The very same year, the INFA Culinary Arts Institute settled there...
